Following on from my issues which I reported in the last blog I have been making substantial progress thanks to Steffi, my Sports & Remedial Massage Therapist. Her cupping techniques and massage to loosen and stretch the various parts of my right leg which are causing the problems.
I have also been getting Catharine to use the massage machine we bought after the previous operation, and I had forgotten about. This vibrating machine has a ‘spiky’ rubber head which although painful at first soon gives considerable relief and this Catharine now applies to my lower back, my glute pain area and the area below and above the operation area.
I am now able to walk downstairs fairly consistently without pain; the pain in my glute is way less of an issue and my lower back is not nearly so stiff. So wopeedo I am getting there!
The planned trip to Portrush was a great event and it was really great to meet with Williamd Mcantyre at the Portrush Yacht Club. The passage was quite challenging but it was so good to be out on the water with 2 good friends visiting various places, Peel in the Isle of Man, Portrush and Bangor Northern Ireland which has just been awarded city status.
Here is a link to my blog on the trip.
My hopes of being started on the freestyle libre patches have not come to fruition as yet, once again a significant disappointment with our NHS here in North Wales. Consequently my diabetes blood sugar measurements continue to be erratic.
I have continued doing a lot of work on my yacht which involves getting into even smaller spaces than before in modifying the wiring and electrical connections. Today for example, I have been replacing the gas alarm, which entailed getting into a VERY small space under the sinks in the galley.
I am now looking forward to the next cruise which is going to be back to the Isle of Man to see the classic motorcycle TT next month. However I am not feeling sufficiently mobile yet for racing the yacht.
I have lost around a kilo over the last month with my increased activity; however I still find longer walks cause the pain below the knee to increase so I am still a bit limited on distance.
